Antrim County's woods and waters provide excellent scenic

over 264 miles of streams and rivers and 130 public access sites, offering year-round

The Grass River Natural
Area comprises over 1,000 acres bordering the Grass River which flows from Lake
Bellaire into Clam Lake. This county-owned site is open from dawn to dusk every day of the
year. Along scenic pathways or from a wildlife look out platform in the Skegemog Lake
Wildlife Area, you may spot ducks, blue heron, frogs, snakes and birds. |
Torch
Lake is internationally known as one of the world's most beautiful inland lakes. Covering
18,770 acres with 40.8 miles of shoreline and a maximum depth of 330 feet, Torch Lake is
the second largest lake in Michigan and noted for its exceptionally clear water and
remarkable coloring.
The Chain-Of-Lakes system, a 90 mile inland waterway with 163 miles of shoreline begins
with the Intermediate River and Beals Lake in Echo Township, just 10 miles from Alden
Meadows and encompasses a dozen lakes, 5 rivers, and ends in Lake Michigan at the Elk
Rapids boat harbor . |
The Sleeping Bear Dunes on the east shore of Lake Michigan features many beaches and the opportunity to dune climb, hike or visit the Coast Guard Maritime Museum.
